Statement from Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. & Northern Virginia CEO Susanne Slater on Former President Carter’s Health

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 21, 2023) – All of us at Habitat DC-NOVA are holding President and Mrs. Carter and their family in our hearts as he enters hospice care.

As we reflect on President Carter’s immense legacy of compassionate service and leadership, we are reminded that his dedication to Habitat’s mission of safe, decent homeownership embodies his belief in the power of community – that when we come together we can change each other’s lives for the better. We are especially grateful today to have built community together alongside President and Mrs. Carter here in DC.

We join our Habitat community and the world in wishing the Carters peace and comfort as they move forward.
