Making A Donation To The ReStore

Donate goods to Habitat DC-NOVA’s ReStores to make a difference in your community. Your donation is tax-deductible. Funds generated from the sale of your donated items at Habitat DC-NOVA ReStores will directly help support our mission to provide decent, affordable housing for local families in your community.

How Does Your Donation Help?

Our ReStores are open to the public and your donations help to fill our stores with treasures for shoppers to purchase. Proceeds from the sales go directly to Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. & Northern Virginia. With these proceeds, we are able to continue our work of building a stronger region by ensuring people can afford to live and thrive in our area. In addition, by giving your donations a second life, our ReStores actively help reduce area landfill waste each year.

What Can You Donate?

We accept new and gently used appliances, furniture, building materials, household goods, and more from individuals and companies. All donated items must be in clean, working, and sellable condition. There are certain items (e.g. clothing, mattresses, bedding, stained or torn upholstered furniture, etc.) that we cannot accept due to state and local health regulations.

How do you donate?

Drop off at the ReStore:  When dropping off a donation, please pull up to the loading dock at the rear of the building. We have staff and volunteers available to help you unload.

All donations are tax-deductible and all items must be valued by you, as the donor. Legally, Habitat cannot appraise your donation(s), so all donors must fill out an estimated value for their donation(s) on the receipt.

Donation drop-off hours: Monday – Saturday: 10 am – 4 pm

Pick Up Service: We have two great options for donation pick-up of your large items or loads.

We provide a limited, FREE pick-up service for large donations in Northern Virginia. With the popularity of this service, your date for pick up may be up to 2-3 weeks out. ReStore staff are not able to enter donors’ homes and all items must be curbside, in a driveway, or in a garage.

If you would like to have someone enter your home to remove your donation or need a donation picked up within 48 hours, try our PRIORITY pick-up service. We partner with ReSupply, who will pick up any items you have (even those we do not accept) and their fee is much less than a usual moving company or junk hauler. They serve all of Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.

For business pick-ups, please contact our ReStores to coordinate.

Please contact our ReStore directly with any questions about your donation.
