Frequently Asked Questions
Will I get a tax receipt?
Yes, whether donating online or via mail, all eligible donors receive a tax receipt. If donating online, a donation receipt will be sent to the email address provided. If sending a check, you will receive a receipt in the mail if address information is provided.
Can I keep my donation anonymous?
Yes, online donors can select to donate anonymously which will hide their information from the public. If sending in a check, donors can also designate that their information is not shared publicly.
Can I designate my donation to a specific project or geographic area?
Unless specified, all donations are unrestricted general funds. However, donors can choose to specify that their donation go to a specific construction project, be used in a specific area, or be used for the home repair program. If donating online, donors may leave a comment or send an email to development@habitatdcnova.org for a specific designation.
I never received a receipt but remember donating to guys?
If you believe you haven’t received a receipt from Habitat DC-NOVA, please reach out to Mary Darab at mary.darab@habitatdcnova.org. If you donated to Habitat International, please expect a receipt from them.
Can you remove me from your mailing list?
Yes. Habitat DC-NOVA typically sends direct mail during the holiday season only while Habitat International sends direct mail year-round. If you are receiving mail from Habitat International and would like to be removed from their list, please email Nichelle Haley at nichelle.haley@habitatdcnova.org with your name and mailing address. If you would like to be removed from Habitat DC-NOVA’s mailing list, please email Nichelle Haley.
