Every Helping Hand Makes A Difference
Volunteers support every aspect of our work. No matter the volunteer activity you choose, you will be helping local families with low incomes access affordable homeownership opportunities. Every helping hand makes a difference. You can check out the different types of opportunities we offer below.
Open Build Days
Ready to swing a hammer? We work with volunteers of all skill levels and welcome anyone over the age of 16. We ask volunteers to commit to the entire day, and we will provide all the tools and safety equipment needed. We post open build days as they become available and notify our volunteers via our listserv.
Sign up below and select “I’m interested in construction” to be notified of upcoming open build opportunities.
Do you love to shop, organize, or talk with people? Our ReStores would be a great fit for you! Volunteers help accept donations, organize inventory, assist customers with finding items, and much more. Our ReStores are open Monday-Saturday and are located in Alexandria, Chantilly, and Herndon.
The proceeds of ReStore sales directly support our work providing affordable housing, and volunteers help ensure our stores provide an excellent shopping experience.
Habitat DC-NOVA often works with volunteers who assist with administrative tasks in our office, such as helping with mailings, database updates and other organizational support. Opportunities are available Monday – Friday. Responsibilities and tasks include regular office tasks, small ongoing projects, data entry and filing, and other administrative support as needed.
Volunteer Crew Leaders are the backbone of our construction program. They commit to volunteering at least two to three times a month on our sites and help our staff teach and supervise small groups of volunteers with various skill levels.
If interested, sign up below and select “I’m interested in being a Crew Leader” and our staff will reach out when we have openings available.
