As we prepare for the end of the year, Habitat DC-NOVA has been busy across our construction sites and ReStores. At Chantilly, we hosted a celebration for our ReStore volunteers. From accepting donations to assisting customers, our ReStores are so grateful for the volunteers who dedicate their time. In addition, Chantilly hosted a group from Mason Investment Advisory Services who helped inside and built chairs outside.
We also hosted another Women Build+ individual build day at our 55th Street site. Volunteers worked hard on the second level of one the duplexes and the front porch of another. Our Women Build+ campaign is a year-long campaign, that welcomes women and people of diverse gender identities to join us in our work. Women Build+ is about more than building homes. It’s about building community. Through this campaign, we aim to engage, mobilize, and empower volunteers to take part in the critical work of affordable housing.
We also hosted Fairfax Councilmembers Rachel McQuillen and Stacy Hall at our Glebeview Townhomes site. We hope to continue working with them and the City Council to providing these homes for families making 30-80% AMI. We are also happy to announce the Interfaith Build Kickoff event on November 7th at Lyon Park Community Center. The goal of this Interfaith Dialogue event is to bring together people of different faith traditions to build relationships and explore ways that we can put our faith into action, particularly around affordable housing.
